Key Worker – Vocational Learning

This is an exciting opportunity to join a charity education and training provider who are at the heart of their community. This role is a key position within the team to support those who need a little extra support to reach their best. Your role will be needs led support to young people with learning disabilities (SEND) / mental health problems helping them reach their maximum potential within their training to support their future.

Keyworker duties

• Key point of contact for social service interventions and external agencies
• Provide practical and social support to vulnerable young people during their studies
• Support individuals to participate in enrichment and employability activities.
• Enable and support young people to develop their skills and confidence.
• Be aware of and work in accordance with Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
• Contribute to individual support/action plans for vulnerable young people.
• Liaise with other staff, managers, collaborating agencies and young people to ensure individual needs are met and confidentiality maintained.
• Actively involved in the delivery, assessment, and monitoring of individual’s support plans, especially where communication with external agencies is required. This may include writing reports, attending meetings, submitting information requests
• Support individuals when they are distressed, liaising with the wellbeing officer when necessary.

Experience required;

• This role will required a CRB check – ideally you will have previously had one in place
• Relevant experience in health, social care or key working / SEND experience
• Good organisation and communication skills
• Compassionate and caring
• Being a team player
• Ability to motivate and engage with others
• Tolerance and ability to deal with challenging behaviour.
• Understand personal and professional boundaries.
• Ability to be creative in the face of challenges
• Good written and computer skills
• Awareness of importance of confidentiality
• Honesty, integrity, flexibility and reliability
