Meeta Sahni CEO
Meeta is our CEO and owner of the business. She is the longest serving member of the team, joining The Maine Group back in 1997. She graduated from Kings with a degree in Physics and is also a qualified Accountant – she really is an all rounder! Soon after starting with The Maine Group, Meeta realised she had become part of something special within the recruitment world. “We practiced recruitment with such integrity that growing the business five-fold in five years was an honour”. Meeta worked her way up to Managing Director in 2005, and remained so passionate about the way we do recruitment that she bought the company in June 2011, and has never looked back!
Meeta’s passion is in adding value to the businesses in London by finding the right people to fit the organisation in every way. She is the pioneer of being Consultants in Recruitment and works to not only add value through a partnership approach with clients and candidates alike, but to improve the reputation of the recruitment industry overall, leading with the unequivocal 3 month 100% financial guarantee!
Meeta runs the business with the help of her leadership team, and is involved with the strategic vision of the Maine Group, building the strongest relationship with her clients and candidates and ensuring that the network she is involved with are the most successful thanks to the people the Maine group introduce.The Maine Magic: Meeta is a Mum of 3, a boy and twin girls, so The Maine Group isn’t Meeta’s only baby. Meeta puts her heart and soul into everything she touches, but did you know that one of her first passions was Skate boarding and roller skating! Meeta is an avid supporter of Women in Business and supports and mentors up and coming girls to realise their dreams and passions.
Carly Stephens Commercial Director
Carly has been with the Maine Group for nearly 13 years, starting with us back in 2004! Before she joined us, she started her career as an EA supporting senior executives in the banking and finance world. After 5 years of this, she registered with Maine-Tucker Secretarial as a candidate but we spotted her skills and knew we wanted her on board! Carly started her journey with Maine-Tucker as a Temps recruiter, and with her experience as an EA, this worked perfectly. She was given a volume client account to manage which saw her working onsite with the client once a week, allowing her to really immerse herself in their culture. Since then, Carly has progressed far, working her way up to temp team manager, Associate Director and now Commercial Director, where she heads up the sales team. Carly is pivotal to our senior leadership team, and spends her time on strategic projects with Meeta, managing and providing support to the sales team, and still connects with clients from time to time.The Maine Magic – Carly is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, she’s been sky diving and bungee jumping and loved both! She loves swimming in the sea, no matter what the weather (even in the winter!), and she is also currently writing a screen play!
Kalpna Bhatia Associate Director
Kalpna joined The Maine Group in 2012 and came on board to head up our City division. She has 10 years Recruitment experience, mainly in the Secretarial sector, but has also worked in Accountancy. Prior to joining us, Kalpna worked for British Airways in frontline operations and then went on to work for a global insurance broker in the City – where Maine-Tucker placed her! Yes, she is another previous Maine-Tucker candidate! After being the top billing consultant nationwide for three years at another leading secretarial consultancy, and then specialising in Accountancy Recruitment, Kalpna approached The Maine Group to progress her career. She really believes in the strength of our recruitment and consultancy service and loves working with likeminded people who care about people! She enjoys helping to shape and build careers and offering expert industry knowledge to her clients.The Maine Magic – Kalpna is a real ‘foodie’ and loves learning about the culture of food. She is an avid Veggie! She also appeared in the film ‘Bend it like Beckham’ as an extra – watch out for her!
Kate Stannard Associate Director - Business Operations
Kate began working at the Maine Group in January 2011 and has had quite a journey since then! She started out as our Receptionist but then worked her way up to PA to MD to Business Assistant and is now our EA to CEO/ Business Manager, and is now Associate Director! She works very closely with our CEO Meeta, and looks after all of our Business Operations including Marketing, HR, IT and Office needs. She liasises regularly with our suppliers, and also heads up the A Team. Together, they run a tight ship!The Maine Magic – Kate spent 7 months travelling after Uni and jumped 15,000ft out of a plane in Queenstown, New Zealand! She has a real sweet tooth and can never resist chocolate!
Natalie Trumper Head of Maine Sales and Marketing
Natalie joined The Maine Group in February 2016 to head up our Sales and Marketing division and comes to us with 23 years of recruitment experience! She started her recruitment career for a secretarial recruiter in the West-End, where she worked her way up to Associate Director, Business Development. During her time there she recruited for temporary and permanent secretarial and office support roles, whilst managing a division of 23! She was also heavily involved in the strategic running of the business, and worked closely with clients.
After nearly 8 years, Natalie moved on to an Operations Director role for another nationwide secretarial recruiter before taking the plunge to go it alone as an external consultant recruiting across a variety of sectors including public sector (Highways Agency, DVLA, Senior Civil Service) as well as most recently luxury fashion and retail brands.
In her role for us at the Maine Group, she will be recruiting for all Marketing, Advertising , Communications and PR roles as well as Business Development, Account Management, Customer Experience and Support roles – basically anything in the Sales and Marketing space. We are so excited to have her on board!The Maine Magic: Natalie loves hosting dinner parties, dancing to Leo Sayer and was once asked to Ski for junior Great Britain!!
Faye Pooke Head of Maine Charity
Faye joined The Maine Group in February 2016 to launch our Maine Charity division! Faye comes to us with nearly 15 years recruitment experience, all of which is in the Not for Profit/Charity sector, so who better to head up Maine Charity for us?!
Faye began her recruitment career working on a temps desk for a specialist Charity recruiter. She remained with this company for 12 years, working her way from Account Exec to Divisional Manager, Director and lastly to Operations Director across all areas of the business including permanent recruitment and executive search. Faye has led many complex recruitment campaigns for both small/medium sized organisations to several of the top 10 charities, developing and nurturing many key relationships that still exist today.
From here (after taking a short break to become a mummy for the second time) Faye took an interim opportunity as an Operations Manager with another leading Not for Profit and public sector specialist, which led to Faye realising that she missed recruiting!
After meeting with us here at The Maine Group, Faye felt that bringing her charity experience to our world would really work, our values were aligned, the synergy was right, and many of our clients are already in that space, so Maine Charity was born!
Faye is heading up Maine Charity and will be working on all roles within the Charity and Not for Profit sector. We are so excited by the success the division has already had and look forward to seeing its continued growth.The Maine Magic: Faye absolutely loves Elephants, and has spent time volunteering at an Elephant sanctuary in Thailand! She also really enjoys photography.
Kathryn Leagas Financial Controller
After Meeta, Kathryn (known to us as Kat) is our longest serving staff member, joining the Maine Group way back in 2004! She has had quite a career journey with us, starting as Receptionist, progressing to Temps Team Administrator, Finance Assistant and then Financial Controller, which is her role now! Kat handles anything Finance related including the Accounts, Payroll, RIB, Invoicing, Forecasting – you name it, she does it! She is a dab hand with the calculator and regularly consults with our client and supplier finance contacts. She loves the variety in her role.The Maine Magic – Kat is a dedicated commuter, journeying in from Broadstairs, Kent three times a week! She has two children and loves bringing them up by the sea!
Aysun Demeni Resourcer/Researcher
Aysun joined The Maine Group in April 2015 as a Resourcer/Researcher for our Secretarial team. She initially graduated from Middlesex University with a 2:1 in Psychology and discovered that she is a real people person. After her studies, she decided that she really wanted to work with people and help them, so her first role out of Uni was as a 360 recruiter in Croydon, working in the Office Support sector. By the time Aysun joined us, she already had some great experience! After being in this role for just over a year, she decided to up the pace and place herself into the heart of London…and who has a better location than The Maine Group?! Aysun was attracted to our culture and the quality of service we provide to our candidates and clients. She really cares about people, so sourcing candidates for their dream roles is the perfect role for her!The Maine Magic: Aysun has a black belt in Karate, so there’s no messing with her! She also loves cats and has her own called Bella and a new addition, Kiara!
Kristian Kurbalija Consultant - Permanent
Kristian joined The Maine Group in September 2015 as a Permanent Consultant for Maine-Tucker Secretarial. Kristian is originally from Cardiff and graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in Hospitality Management, so he has a wealth of customer service experience! Kristian moved to London after University and began working for Virgin Atlantic as cabin crew. After flying the airways for 3 years, he decided to look for customer service based roles on the ground and worked in a few secretarial roles such as Reception and Office Managers. (So you can trust he has the perfect experience for our Secretarial candidates and clients!) Kristian then found himself working in recruitment, which is something he really enjoyed and thrived in. He has always had an Exec Search/Private Equity focus, which is something he now brings to the The Maine Group team. After 6 years in a recruitment role elsewhere, Kristian decided to move on and look for a new challenge, and here he is! He was immediately attracted to The Maine Group through our brand and excellent reputation and, after interviewing with us and meeting our team; he knew we were the company for him. Sarah Phillip Sewell Head of Temporary Division
Sarah joined The Maine Group back in February 2016. Sarah has a vast amount of recruitment experience, having begun 20 years ago in Lancashire! Back then, she was temping for a secretarial recruiter as a candidate and had to pop in every week to hand in her timesheet. She got to know the team really well, and one day ended up picking up the phones to help them out…she’s a natural! And has never looked back! She became a permanent member of the team and stayed there for a year. Since then, Sarah has worked for various recruitment companies, most of them all within the secretarial sector, so she has the perfect experience for The Maine Group. Her experience includes working on both permanent and temporary desks, within larger companies and more boutique recruiters and also running and heading up large teams. Most recently, Sarah was recruiting in house for large international firms but was enticed away by The Maine Group. Sarah met with Meeta and was then invited to interview with the rest of the team. She feels The Maine Group are really aligned to her own values, and loves the culture here. She initially ran our permanent City desk but has moved across to the Temps team, heading up our Temporary Division and is enjoying being back in the swing of things!The Maine Magic: Sarah loves to travel and can’t resist some hard core cardio – which is retail therapy to everyone else!
Paige Abbs Office Manager
Paige joined The Maine Group in May 2016, and came aboard The A Team as our Office Manager. Paige graduated from the University of Leicester in 2014 with a degree in English and History, which she chose to study as she initially thought about teaching as a career. After spending time in schools however, she decided that teaching wasn’t for her, and turned to world of recruitment! Paige’s first role out of university was for a Contract Technology Recruiter as an Administrative PA. She stayed there for nearly 2 years before deciding she needed a new challenge, and here she is! Paige registered with The Maine Group as a candidate, and it wasn’t long before she applied for a role with us internally. She was really impressed with our approach to recruitment, and felt our culture was really aligned to hers. Paige’s role sees her managing the day to day operations at The Maine Group including general Office Management, as well as supporting with our Marketing and HR Admin.The Maine Magic: Paige is a keen baker, and even made her cousins wedding cake! We hear her lemon tart is also legendary! She is also a big Rugby fan, played for her University team, and now plays for her local ladies team.
Krishna Dayal Temporary Consultant
Krishna joined The Maine Group in October 2016 as part of the Maine Charity team. Krishna started her career straight out of college after studying her A-Levels; she initially started out in retail but was eager for a new challenge when she found the world of recruitment. It’s safe to say she’s never looked back! Krishna has a background in specialist IT recruitment but decided to change disciplines when she saw the good work that Maine Charity and The Maine Group were doing. She was really impressed with our ethical approach to recruitment and our close-knit team; she felt we really aligned with her core values and couldn’t wait to join us! Krishna’s role sees her working on the Temps team within Maine Charity, providing the best interim candidates for the Not for Profit and Charity worlds.The Maine Magic: Krishna is a bit of a performer! She has performed as part of a choir at the Royal Albert Hall, acted on stage at The Globe Theatre, and performed on stage at Wembley with her Kathal and Bharatanatyam dance troupe!
Ms Siobhan Flude Specialist Charity Recruitment Consultant
Siobhan joined The Maine Group in January 2017 and has become an integral member of the Maine Charity team. Siobhan has a wealth of Recruitment experience, over 20 years in fact, with her first role out of college being an administrator in a recruitment company. Throughout her career, she has worked across a variety of commercial companies but soon found her niche in the Charity and Not for Profit sectors. Siobhan has been working within the Charity world for the last 10 years honing her skills. She has spent time as a recruiter and as a Partnerships Manager for Marie Curie. After this stint away from recruitment, she realised that she missed the fast-pace world of recruitment and came back to the industry, and where better than Maine Charity! Siobhan chose to join The Maine Group because she truly believes in our values and loves the positive way we work with both candidates and clients. She was keen to work with like-minded people and be part of a mature working environment.Siobhan loves a challenge, she has completed 3 mountain treks – Kilimanjaro, Everest base camp, and Machu Picchu, taken part in the Tough Mudder challenge, and run the British 10K!
Emma Cook Permanent Consultant
Emma joined The Maine Group in July 2017 to become a member of the Maine Charity team. She started her career in Sales & Marketing but soon decided it was time to try something new and, nearly 9 years ago, Emma decided to turn her hand to recruitment. She hasn't looked back! With a broad range of experience across commercial sectors, oil and gas, ship building, and Charity and Not for Profits, Emma has honed her skills and loves nothing more than helping people find their dream roles! After moving to London over 5 years ago, Emma decided to move into the Charity and Not for Profit sectors to give back to some fantastic causes, and where better to do this than Maine Charity?!
Emma was immediately attracted to The Maine Group through our brand and soon realised we were exactly what she was looking for! She really wanted to be part of a team with strong values and have the opportunity to work with some of the most respected names in the Charity recruitment field. She loves that there are a team of strong women spearheading progress and shaping culture here at The Maine Group and in the wider recruitment world.
