Maintenance Multi-Skilled Inspector

Salary: £38,000 – £38,500 per annum (including take-home vehicle)
Location: Luton & South Bedfordshire area
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Multi-Skilled Inspector to join a well-established housing provider committed to delivering quality homes and excellent customer service.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for inspecting properties, diagnosing repairs, and ensuring maintenance works are carried out to the highest standards. You’ll work closely with internal maintenance teams, external contractors, and compliance staff to maintain safe, comfortable, and compliant homes for our residents.

This is a hands-on, varied position where you’ll balance property inspections, compliance checks, and coordination of multi-trade repairs. A company vehicle is provided for business use and commuting.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct property inspections to identify maintenance needs, disrepair, and damp/mould issues.

Diagnose faults and specify cost-effective repair solutions.

Approve completed works to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.

Support the team with complex multi-trade repairs when required.

Ensure planned and responsive maintenance meets “Decent Homes” standards or above.

Carry out and record Health & Safety audits and risk assessments.

Deliver excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with residents.

Accurately maintain inspection reports and job records using digital systems.

Support colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement within the maintenance service.

About You

You’ll have a strong multi-skilled maintenance background, ideally gained in housing, facilities, or a related field. You’ll combine solid technical knowledge of building fabric, defects, and compliance with an ability to write clear inspection reports and manage contractors effectively.

Essential skills and attributes include:

Proven experience across multiple building trades.

Strong knowledge of building maintenance and compliance requirements.

Ability to inspect and sign off completed works to required standards.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Full UK driving licence.
