Hybrid working; 2 days London office / 3 days WFH

Are you a sharp, curious editor who thrives on turning complex subjects into clear, engaging stories? Do you enjoy working at the heart of a fast-moving news environment with an international outlook? We’re looking for an experienced News Editor to join our communications team on a maternity cover basis.

The role
Working within a busy Communications Directorate, you’ll take ownership of our industry news output, ensuring timely, accurate and engaging coverage across newsletters, websites and publications. You’ll manage the full news cycle – from research and writing through to editing, publishing and performance reporting – while building strong relationships with contributors, members and industry contacts.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys juggling multiple deadlines, has a meticulous eye for detail and feels comfortable handling technical financial or legal content and making it accessible to a broad professional audience.

Key duties and responsibilities:
• Producing and delivering multiple industry news email digests, from research to publication
• Writing original news content and features, and editing copy from freelance contributors
• Publishing and maintaining news content across websites and CMS platforms
• Managing newsletter distribution using a marketing email platform and reporting on engagement analytics
• Working with commercial partners to process sponsored content to a high ethical standard
• Contributing interviews, features and other editorial content across a range of publications
• Building and maintaining relationships with firms, PR agencies, regulators and professional bodies
• Collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging

Experience required:
• You’re an experienced editor or journalist with a background in financial, legal or professional services news, and you’re confident working to tight deadlines. You bring excellent writing and sub-editing skills, strong organisation and a collaborative mindset.
• Proven experience in a similar news or editorial role
• Excellent command of written English and a forensic attention to detail
• The ability to quickly grasp complex and evolving subject matter
• Confidence working with digital publishing tools, CMSs and analytics
• An international outlook and interest in global professional issues
• Knowledge of or connections in Latin America. Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a bonus, but not essential.
