The Maine Stephathon Begins!

Posted on 2nd November 2018

It’s official, we’ve kicked off the Maine Stepathon and we’re on our way to 4 million steps! If you haven’t heard us raving about it already, we’re stepping our way to 4 million steps as a company (that’s about 2000 miles by the way!) and raising money for our Charity of the Year Partner – Dementia UK. Many of us have family or friends who have been affected by dementia so this is cause is close to our hearts; the admiral nurses work so hard to help and care for those with dementia and support families across the nation so we're here to help raise some awareness (and get fit while we're at it!).

To make sure we all hit our target we’re getting on board with the walking meeting, getting away from our desks at lunch for a stroll, and if you happen to pop in to Maine HQ you’ll see everyone on the phone pacing up and down the office to rack up that step count! We’re tracking these through a multitude of apps and smart devices and will be duking out for ultimate bragging rights of the Maine Super Stepper at the end of the challenge!

We’ll be keeping you updated with our progress throughout the month and blogging some updates on how it's going, so keep an eye on our social media and if you want to support a great cause, you can donate here on our just giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/themainegroupstepathon

Stepathon Day 1

So, it’s started, and although I’m a fairly active person it’s safe to say that I don’t always hit my 10,000 step target. To set this off on the right foot this morning I got off the bus 5 stops early to walk my way into the office (that’s another 500 steps on my daily total) and I got in some sightseeing while i was there - Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street, the Cenotaph, not bad for a brisk Friday morning. Fingers crossed this is going to be easier than the daunting 4 million step target looks but im raring to go! To paraphrase a beloved, yet forgetful, blue fish, just keep stepping!

Happy walking!
